HIROMI ASAI to Showcase Expanded Menswear Collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week

The collection had its initial reveal at New York Fashion Week in September 2026, showcasing designs characterized by a fluid white silhouette featuring a dramatic trailing panel and sharp tailoring complemented by intricate detailing.

Designer Hiromi Asai integrates contemporary menswear with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Since 2017, she has collaborated with Japanese kimono textile craftsmen to create original fabrics using age-old techniques, melding them with modern tailoring and unique details. Asai introduced authentic kimonos at New York Fashion Week in 2016 prior to focusing on menswear.

The "Akatsuki — Before the Dawn" collection draws inspiration from the early moments of dawn, capturing the transition from night to day. This Japanese term signifies the period just before sunlight breaks, symbolizing new beginnings. Through color, silhouette, movement, and detail, the collection conveys this concept in menswear. Tailored garments alongside more fluid pieces oscillate between restraint and drama, while original Japanese textiles introduce texture and patterns, including bold and auspicious motifs that celebrate both tradition and modernity.

In Los Angeles, the brand will present the collection in a distinct format. The lineup will feature entirely new designs that are being revealed for the first time, looks that were previously shown in New York and Paris, and select pieces from past collections that have not yet been displayed in Los Angeles. Keeping the city’s red-carpet culture in mind, the collection spotlights bold silhouettes, sharp tailoring, and evening attire, alongside expressive pieces that fuse contemporary styles with Japanese artisanship.

Asai expressed her enthusiasm about showcasing "Akatsuki" in Los Angeles. She noted that the show will be larger and more dramatic compared to previous presentations, and she is eager to unveil the new designs on the runway.
