The pop-up marks the conclusion of the inaugural edition of A Bunch of Designers, providing an opportunity for visitors to engage directly with the designers, learn about their craftsmanship through live demonstrations, and purchase items from the collections. Each designer will host on-site activations that highlight their creative processes. Attendees can observe Brais Albor's pattern cutting, Merle Breuker's embroidery techniques, Sandra Jao's AiryString® application, participate in Liwen Liang’s kintsugi workshop, explore Manon Marcelot’s leather goods crafting, and see Caterina Moro’s textile printing inspired by natural forms.
The debut collections cover womenswear, menswear, and leather goods, showcasing diverse approaches to materials, craftsmanship, and construction. Brais Albor's menswear focuses on tailoring and sportswear, challenging the norms of conventional menswear. His designs promote body inclusivity through humor and transformative construction. Merle Breuker presents a modular wardrobe that adapts to the wearer’s needs, made from leftover European fabrics, emphasizing versatility and longevity.
Philippe Fortunato, CEO of Fashion & Accessories Maisons at Richemont, noted the progression of the designers from concept to market-ready collections. He affirmed the company’s commitment to nurturing creative talent. These six designers were selected from the first cohort of AZ Academy: Business for Designers, a year-long program developed in partnership with Creative Academy and Accademia Costume & Moda, aimed at equipping independent designers with essential business knowledge.
Lutz Huelle, a recognized designer and educator, serves as an ambassador for this initiative, providing mentorship to the emerging designers. Grazia Valtorta, Executive Director and CEO of Creative Academy, expressed pride in the success of the new program and the designers’ accomplishments.
