The brand uses high-performance formulas in packaging that is 100% plastic-free and ready for recycling, demonstrating that the future of beauty can exist without plastic.
Nour Tayara, co-founder of Aora México, stated, "We set out to make sustainability sexy, cool, colorful and fun while tackling what seemed impossible: creating incredible makeup people want to cherish, without plastic. Years of research, development and innovation later, being named one of TIME’s Best Inventions proves the answer is a big, resounding yes."
Aora is notably the first entirely plastic-free makeup brand to launch at Sephora, utilizing recyclable and reusable materials such as aluminum, tin, and wood instead of conventional packaging.
After extensive research, Aora developed mono-material designs that facilitate easier recycling and created bold makeup formulas featuring ingredients sourced from Mexico, including five chiles, tepezcohuite, and cactus flower. The products are characterized by vibrant colors, Spanish names, and artisan-inspired packaging.
Aora holds a Certified Plastic Negative status through rePurpose Global and actively funds the recovery of nine times the weight of plastic waste for every product sold. To date, the brand's initiatives have resulted in the removal of over 2,390 kilograms of plastic waste.
