Zara has announced a significant collaboration with John Galliano, the renowned former creative director of Dior and Maison Margiela. This partnership, revealed in March, marks Galliano's return to the fashion scene after a period of relative quiet and is set to last for two years. Galliano, known for his boundary-pushing designs, has faced controversy due to past incidents, including a drunken anti-Semitic outburst in 2011, yet he remains a respected figure in the industry.

Galliano led Dior from 1996 to 2011 and held the menswear and womenswear creative director position at Margiela from 2014 to 2024. His most recent work for Margiela is celebrated as one of the best collections in recent fashion history.
The highly anticipated collection, titled Re{form} Zara, will be available for purchase starting October 1. This new line repurposes archival Zara garments using haute couture techniques and is produced in novel materials, marking a departure from Zara's traditional offerings.
The collection draws inspiration from classic menswear, featuring neutral tones like black, navy, dark green, brown, burgundy, beige, and white, accented by dramatic red highlights. Influences from French fashion history are evident, particularly references to Les Incroyables and Les Merveilleuses.
The clothing, including coats, shirts, knits, and trousers, showcases Galliano's signature style, incorporating innovative tailoring techniques. The designs feature elements such as wool overcoats, naval coats, and pieces with gingham pocket linings, along with trench coats made from reimagined wool.
Among the standout items is the Tri-Chic bag, a reversible sack that creatively transforms bin-liners into stylish handbags, named in reference to French waste sorting. The collection also includes hats, developed in collaboration with famed milliner Stephen Jones. As a genderless collection, it is predicted to be highly sought after, and early buyers are encouraged to act quickly.
