Sephora has announced a partnership with Marks & Spencer (M&S) to introduce “Sephora at M&S” shop-in-shops in 100 locations across the U.K. and on M&S’s website, set to begin in spring 2027. This collaboration aims to enhance customer traffic for both retailers and is part of a broader strategy for M&S to increase its share in the U.K. beauty market, where it currently holds just over 1%.

The U.K. beauty market is valued at approximately $7 billion and saw a growth of 1.2% in the year ending mid-July, according to data from WorldPanel by Numerator. John Lyttle, M&S’s managing director of fashion, home, and beauty, emphasized that beauty is a key category for the retailer, with potential to attract new customers and encourage existing ones to shop more frequently.
This partnership echoes Sephora’s previous alliance with Kohl’s in the U.S., which aimed to drive sales and increase foot traffic. While the Kohl’s collaboration initially yielded positive results, its performance has declined this year. GlobalData Managing Director Neil Saunders noted that M&S begins this partnership with more advantages, including established appeal to younger consumers, supported by its existing food offerings.
Catherine Spindler, Sephora’s president for Europe and the Middle East, stated that the success of Sephora's U.K. launch motivated the company to expand quickly through this partnership, which is seen as a significant evolution in their retail strategy. This collaboration combines Sephora's prestige beauty expertise with M&S’s established retail infrastructure.
