At the helm of this iconic brand's fragrance development is Céline Roux-Alezais, who holds the position of VP Global Fragrance Development. Roux-Alezais began her career in cosmetics, not perfumery, working with Estée Lauder Companies in New York and Dior in Paris.
In March 2009, she joined Jo Malone London, coinciding with her move to London. There, she collaborated with Christine Nagel, the perfumer responsible for many of the brand's creations, including Wood Sage & Sea Salt—one of 47 fragrances Roux-Alezais has helped develop over her tenure.
Her unconventional path into fragrance allowed her to approach scent creation without preconceived notions about gendered fragrances. She notes, "I never saw constraints or boundaries, so I never thought a fragrance for women should be this or a fragrance for men should be like that. I opted to experiment."
Roux-Alezais has significantly influenced Jo Malone London’s fragrance collection for over 17 years, bringing a fresh perspective to the industry. Her insights are featured in Cosmetics Business' new series "Meet the Maestro."
