The new space integrates various aspects of the fragrance and flavor business, including perfumers, fragrance development teams, application, digital solutions, and compounding capabilities, all under one roof. The design aims to enhance collaboration and creativity among around 100 employees, featuring nine fine fragrance perfumers.

The facility boasts an “open and immersive” environment intended to foster direct engagement between clients, visitors, and perfumers. It will offer opportunities for clients to discover ingredients, exchange ideas, and participate in events, masterclasses, and creative collaborations.

Jonathan Simon, President of Global Fine Fragrance at DSM-Firmenich, highlighted New York's creative energy, stating, "Few cities inspire creativity quite like New York. With our new home in Chelsea, we are investing in an environment designed to bring together talent, inspiration, and diverse perspectives."

The facility features a next-generation laboratory equipped with advanced automation and robotics to enhance efficiency, along with a custom-built compounding robot named Cerberus that can handle up to 456 raw materials, significantly increasing lab output.

In addition to cutting-edge technology, the space emphasizes sustainability through energy-efficient systems, green lab practices, and waste reduction measures. Outdoor terraces and a rooftop garden with views of Manhattan further enhance the environment.

Melanie Duhamel, VP for Fine Fragrance in North America, remarked that the new space is more than just an office—it is a collaborative hub combining perfumery expertise with scientific innovation.

The location will also host a new initiative called "Open Air: Artists in Resonance" that seeks to explore creativity through collaboration within New York’s cultural landscape. This includes partnerships with artists from various fields such as music, design, and social service organizations.

Participants in this initiative will include a range of contributors, from DJs and chefs to members of the voguing community, and the resulting projects will be expressed through various mediums such as fragrance, film, and photography. Future exhibitions and workshops are planned as part of the initiative, connecting DSM-Firmenich's global creative centers.
