BeautySnob, an independent beauty ingredient safety database, has launched a platform that now features tens of thousands of scored products and over 30,000 indexed ingredients across various skincare, makeup, hair care, body care, and fragrance brands. The database recognizes that products sold in different markets often have distinct formulas due to regional regulations and supplier variations.

Each product on BeautySnob's platform receives separate scores tailored to the market it is sold in. For instance, a moisturizer available in the United States may differ in formulation from one sold in Spain. The platform gathers ingredient lists directly from the brands' official local websites, allowing consumers in different countries to see specific scores that reflect the product they are purchasing.
Currently covering the U.S. and Spanish markets, BeautySnob plans to expand its reach to additional European markets. Each product is evaluated with two scores: the Clinical Score, which assesses ingredient hazard ratings based on their position, exposure route, and EU regulatory status, and the Formulator Score, which provides a written evaluation flagging concerns like fragrance allergens and restricted ingredients.
The extensive ingredient library lists more than 2,000 hazardous substances, including those banned or limited by EU regulations, the U.S. FDA, and Health Canada, as well as allergens that must be declared under EU laws.
A spokesperson for BeautySnob highlighted the importance of localized assessments, stating, "Most ingredient tools assume a product is identical everywhere in the world. It isn't. We wanted a tool that shows people the formula on the shelf in front of them, scored with a method they can read and question." BeautySnob is free for users.
