CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Consignment and thrift shops are providing consumers with second-hand clothing options that align with sustainable fashion practices. Sustainable fashion aims to reduce environmental and labor impacts throughout the production process. Katie Jones, an associate professor and program director for fashion design and merchandising at West Virginia University, emphasized that defining 'sustainable fashion' can be challenging. Instead, she focuses her teachings on the concept of 'less fad fashion' to encourage more mindful consumption among her students.
