The conference addressed the critical need for understanding how scientific evidence, regulatory decision-making, and public perception interact, under the theme ‘Aligning Science, Policy and Consumer Perception.’ This member-only event attracted speakers from UK Government, European personal care associations, cosmetic companies, academia, and media.

Presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions focused on several key topics, including:

- Consumer understanding of chemicals and the distinction between hazard and risk.

- Recent advancements in science-based policies shaping the cosmetics industry.

- Enhancing trust in animal-free safety assessments.

- The science behind UV filters and their environmental impacts.

- Effective science communication to build consumer trust.

Caroline Rainsford, the CTPA's director of science, stated that the conference showcased the importance of collaboration among scientists, regulators, policymakers, and communication experts in enhancing public understanding of science. Rainsford emphasized the necessity of clear communication, especially in an age of rapid misinformation.

CTPA remains committed to promoting evidence-based approaches and improving understanding of the science and safety of cosmetics and personal care products.
