The company aims to provide consumers with access to handbags and clothing crafted from the same materials and manufactured in the same facilities as high-end brands. For example, an Italian leather handbag from Atorie is priced at a few hundred dollars, significantly lower than the thousands charged by brands like Prada and Louis Vuitton.
Atorie's launch comes at a time when 'dupe culture' is rising in popularity, particularly among young consumers who seek more affordable replicas of luxury goods. According to co-founder Redouane Ramdani, the products sold by Atorie are not simply imitations. He emphasized that they offer the same materials and craftsmanship as luxury items. Ramdani distinguishes Atorie from fast fashion, describing it as a 'slow fashion' approach.
Before founding Atorie, Ramdani previously developed the creator platform Snipfeed, which was acquired in 2024. Growing up in France within a family involved in luxury manufacturing inspired him to enter the industry. He observed significant changes in luxury manufacturing, particularly how factories have evolved. Traditionally, companies like Ralph Lauren would design products and provide materials, leading to large minimum order commitments and excess inventory. This created financial risks for factories dependent on a few major clients.
Ramdani noted that many luxury factories are now capable of designing and developing products independently and producing smaller batches, which reduces the risks associated with overproduction. AI technology is helping these factories analyze data to identify potential bestsellers and forecast demand, allowing them more flexibility in their production processes.
To realize his vision, Ramdani partnered with Luis Angulo to create an AI-powered fashion brand that links luxury producers directly with consumers. He draws a parallel to the retailer Quince, known for affordable, high-quality offerings.
The startup targets a demographic that prefers trendy yet well-made items, aligning with a growing consumer fatigue towards fast fashion and its environmental impacts. AI plays a pivotal role in Atorie's operations, aiding in trend analysis, color testing, and predicting material shortages. The Atorie platform features an AI agent that can curate outfits for customers and learns individual shopping behaviors to enhance recommendations.
Atorie is witnessing increased sales referrals from platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude. The company aspires to position itself as an alternative to Zara, providing high-quality products at affordable prices. It concluded the previous year with approximately $5 million in sales and anticipates reaching an annualized revenue of more than $55 million in the current year.
With the new funding, Atorie plans to enhance logistics, develop AI tools, and expand production capabilities. The company also intends to launch an in-house clothing line akin to Amazon Essentials and collaborate with creators and influencers for quick clothing line launches.
